Hi Jerry, If these songs are not already on your “to do” list, can you add them? Thank you!
1) Brothers In Arms – Dire Straits
2) House of Cards – Scorpions
3) Holiday – Scorpions
4) The Zoo – Scorpions
5) Gypsy Life – Scorpions
6) Until I Fall Away – Gin Blossoms
7) Found Out About You -Gin Blossoms
In the meantime, I have plenty of your songs I still need to perfect!
My all time favorite of the songs I have bought from you is “Angie” by the Rolling Stones.
Why? Because for me, it has the perfect combination of strummed chords and individually picked notes. Can you recommend any other songs that might be similar in structure?
Thanks for all the hours of pleasure I’ve gotten from learning to play my favorite songs! Alan
Jerry says
Hi Alan
Thanks for the kind words.
Some of those are on the list. I’ll add the others.
The list is now so huge it stands a fair chance of outlasting me :)

Take care of yourself Jerry! Eat right. Get plenty of sleep. Drink 8 glasses of water a day, and be sure to look both ways before crossing the street. (Remember, those nuts in the UK drive on the wrong side of the street.)

Hi Jerry, I thought of one thing you could do to possibly satisfy the highest number of people who want songs and also maximize your income. First, you could freeze the list, arbitrarily, today. (You don’t even have to tell anybody.) Second, you could make a list of all the requested songs and count how many people have requested each song. For example, 40 people want song A, 37 people want song B, 26 people want song C, etc. Then you could ignore new requests for a while as you compose song A and make it available for sale, then song B and make it available for sale, then song C, etc. If you do this, your income is maximized and the number of happy JGB guitarists is also maximized. The people who have requested the less popular songs will have to wait the longest but that only seems fair. As of this date, it’s likely that no one has tried to game the system by using different email addresses or other nefarious tactics so the result should be a win for everyone. The most popular songs win! It may seem unfair to people who requested relatively unknown songs but you’ll likely get to those songs faster using this method of song composition order.

HI Jerry, I agree with some other folks and would love to see Running on Faith…gorgeous song.
Years ago I learned Mike’s version of Nobody Knows You When Your Down and Out, but Mike didn’t teach the solo part of the song….I’ve tried to figure it out as it sounds like a pentatonic scale, but alas, I’m musically challenged I guess.
I echo other’s sentiment by saying I too think you are the best guitar instructor out there…and I’ve been with you a long time now, 10 years plus?
Happy New Year!
Neal
Jerry says
Hi Neal.
Running on Faith and Nobody Knows You are both on the to-do list. We’ll get the voting system up later this year.

I forgot about ‘Old Love’ on the ’92 EC unplugged video.
Another favorite I would love to learn….his lead solo part looks
awesome but would take me a while to learn.

Jerry says
The problem I have with Layla is the solo. It frazzled my fingers :)

He tackles the solos for Layla

I think there’d be apositive reception for a “simplified” Layla solo version for Pre-Advanced students, a la the ‘Before You Accuse’ Me lesson.

Gerry,
All of the “unplugged” songs would be great, especially “Change the World”.
Jerry says
I’l add Change the World to the to-do list.

Any chance you could make a lesson for his unplugged version of “Nobody Knows you When You’re Down and Out?” There are a couple of arrangements out there but they’re lacking. Thanks – I’ve sampled a ton, and your instruction is hands-down the best on the web.

Hi Jerry
I have more or less learned to play fingerstyle from your website alone. Best acoustic lessons on the web.
I’d love to see more of Clapton’s MTV unplugged album on your site. Also, one of his versions of Driftin’.
Thanks for this world class resource.
