Paul Simon Guitar Lessons

Learn how to play the songs by Paul Simon note-for-note on guitar with The Paul Simon Guitar Lessons. Each lesson includes the playthru, video lesson, songsheet with chords and tab.
Following the enormous success of Simon and Garfunkel, the world watched with great anticipation to see what Paul Simon would produce on his own. His first offering was the album simply called ‘Paul Simon’, an eclectic survey of musical styles from reggae, through world music, to blues and gypsy jazz. From that album you can learn to play Me and Julio Down By The Schoolyard and Duncan with this set.
Then came the polished ‘There Goes Rhymin’ Simon’ including the impossibly beautiful and evocative American Tune which is the free song from this collection. Still Crazy After all These Years was sophisticated, jazz-tinged pop, and the title track is included here in a multi-part masterclass that has the original electric piano part played and taught as a guitar part.
Much simpler but no less effective is the hit single Slip Sliding Away, which is suitable for any level of guitarist, but the same can’t be said of Hearts and Bones, a guitar tour-de-force included here again in a multi-part masterclass to do justice to its complexity.
Finally no Paul Simon guitar lessons could be complete without something from Graceland, and you’ll be surprised how effectively The Boy In The Bubble works on one acoustic guitar.
Click on any of the song titles to see a clip from the start of the lesson. (The free one you can download in its entirety.)
You’ll receive at least two videos per song, one lesson and one performance-standard play-through. You’ll also receive the chords/lyrics and guitar tabs as PDF files.
The videos are mp4 format and should play on PC’s, Macs and most mobile devices.
They will download as Zip files. If you don’t have a Zip program on your PC you’ll need to install one to open the file. .
If you want to download to an iPad or iPhone, please read here.

Thanks Jerry for Something So Right-your lesson is spot on! I can finally play through it comfortably and actually really enjoy it!
I found this alternative demo version of “Something So Right” that is beautiful-different lyrics, and would have ended up as a different song. But recognizably Something So Right-just finger picked on a guitar.

Just repeating my request for “I do it for your love.”

René & Georgette Magritte shouldn’t be so further down on the list, it’ s such a great song. I would love to be able to sing and play it on guitar. I may not be around when it’s ready. I’m joking.
Thanks for the lessons, they are precious to me. I wish I ‘d had them at the time the songs came out.

Thanks,

How about The Late Great Johnny Ace or Rene & Georgette Magritte? Some excellent guitar work and not easy to figure out. By the way – you’re probably the best guitar teacher on the internet. I’ve ordered dozens of your songs and they are “spot on”. You’re also very good at explaining things. Keep up the great work! :)
Jerry says
Thanks for the kind words Ralph.
Late Great Johnny Ace is number 1099.
Rene & Georgette Magritte is 553
