That’s at number 1157 so it’ll be a while but I’ll make a note to include the solo.

Hi Jerry, I have purchased a couple of your songs, one of them is “Take It Easy” by the Eagles. Although I’m a
beginner I’m sorting it out. But the main problem I’m having is how to miss the up strums when keeping the
speed of the rhythm going. I’ve looked on other tutorials, but no one addresses this, what I would imagine to be a very common problem. I’m using a .60mm and I hold the pick like you advise in you short tutorial. I would appreciate any tips.
    Many Thanks, Martin.

I know this is never a very satisfactory answer but in this case it really just slow and careful practice.
When I miss a strum – either up or down – I’m missing the strings by about half an inch. It’s a matter of practising by moving the strumming arm slowly enough to control the arc in which it swings. The difference in trajectory between hitting the strings with the tip of the pick and missing them by half an inch is very small.
Once you get that control you’ll find that it actually won’t matter if you get the faintest touch on the strings. We call these ‘ghost’ strums and they add to the naturalness of the rhythmic feel. But that’s for phase 2.

Hi Jerry. Bryan Ferry does a lovely job on The Bride Stripped Bare, but for a full Irish flavour I’d suggest Paddy Reilly or Jim McCann. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=A-LN3BsN1Vc

Jerry was wondering if you could prepare a tutorial on a song by johnny flynn called the detectorists from a popular netflix show caled the detectorists. I’ve found a couple of videos on you tube but nobody is ever as comprehensive as you.

    Dear Jerry,
I love the clarity and accuracy of your lessons – thanks! I noticed your guitar has a wide neck. I was trained in classical guitar and wish to find a steel string guitar with a wide neck. Would you tell who made your guitar, please?
    Thanks Jerry!

      Hi Randy
Actually my guitars have normal neck sizes for steel string guitars, but you can get wide-neck ones. Google ‘wide neck steel string guitar’.
