I, too, was happy to see “Joe Bean’s Theme” arrive. Thanks, Jerry!
This is from one of my favorite albums: “Open Road.”
Don appeared free and happy when he was on the Greek isle in his “three-piece” band configuration. Another album from this trio was not to be, unfortunately.
Does someone know the origin of song’s title?
Jerry says
It’s a reference to bossa nova specialist Carlos Jobim who had his name anglicised to ‘Joe Bean’ by English-speaking musicians.
Robert says
Thanks, Jerry. I can be too literal.
I remember seeing Jobim on American television when Sinatra was enamored of his material.
Marc says
Thanks for an excellent breakdown, Jerry. A song that’s a joy to play, especially
pleasing for those of us who love Astrud Gilberto and
Tom Jobim as much as they do Don.
Jerry says
It’s a fun one. Nice to find Don playing in this style.
Thanks Marc
