    Thanks, Jerry. Another beautiful but simple (as you explain it) Donovan gems from the awesome “Gift From A Flower.” Can you account for Donovan’s down-tuning by a half step? Perhaps unimportant, but details such as this perplex me when I am attempting to learn songs on my own, without your help.

      Hi Robert. He doesn’t do it often but does occasionally – Sand and Foam is another example that springs to mind. It might be because he wanted the slightly darker sound that downtuning provides, bur far more likely, imho, is that it was easier for him to sing a semi-tone lower. In that sense his downtuning is like a capo in reverse!
