Erma Franklin – Piece Of My Heart Guitar Lesson Info
Learn how to play Erma Franklin – Piece Of My Heart note-for-note on guitar with our detailed step-by-step guitar lesson.
This lesson teaches Piece of My Heart as recorded by Erma Franklin, arranged as a solo acoustic guitar and vocal accompaniment. The arrangement is loosely based on the piano part from the original recording but has been freely adapted to work naturally on a single acoustic guitar. Rather than attempting to reproduce every instrument, the focus is on capturing the feel, groove, and harmonic movement of the song in a way that supports a solo performance.
The verses are fingerpicked throughout, creating a steady, soulful accompaniment, while the chorus introduces finger strums to lift the dynamics and provide a clear contrast between the different sections of the song. That change in texture helps build the energy without losing the intimacy of the acoustic arrangement.
The lesson is rated intermediate. There is one barre chord to contend with, but no thumb-over chords, and the techniques required are well within reach of players who are already comfortable with basic fingerpicking.
This arrangement is ideal for anyone who wants to perform Piece of My Heart as a self-contained acoustic piece, preserving the spirit of the original while making the song work convincingly on one guitar.
The download includes the full video lesson, a play-through performance, and detailed tab and chords so you can learn the arrangement exactly as demonstrated.
