I recently ordered Eva Cassidy’s guitar version of Over the Rainbow. Eva had her own style and phrasing which really brought out her emotions. I’ve always wanted to learn this song.
Your tablature was incredible. It also included the lyrics in the exact part of the song in which she would sing them. If that weren’t enough, the videos are top notch beginning with the complete guitar lesson over Eva’s recording.
The tutorial was clear and precise with no extra gibberish. “Let’s get right to it” as you mention at the start.
I never thought I would find a website that could get everything right. Sir, you have succeeded.
I must say your instruction was brilliant.

Please consider Stevie Ray Vaughn’s version of Little Wing!

Many thanks Henry. Glad you enjoyed it.
A brilliant electric lead guitar solo like Little Wing isn’t really my area of expertise. Frankly, Stevie Ray is too fast for me!
He’s largely improvising it and I’m never sure about teaching improvisations note-for-note.
A better way to teach it would be to talk about the theory behind his playing – what scales and modes he’s using – and show a couple of the licks as examples.
There are other sites better at that stuff than me.

Got it. Thank you sir.

Thanks for this excellent lesson! Your brilliant site has opened my ears (and fingers) to many artists I never fully appreciated (or listened to) before. Eva is one of them.
Are there any more of her songs coming up soon?
I was hoping for “True Colors” – but anything would be welcomed!
Jerry says
Hi Alan
Songbird, Autumn Leaves, Time After Time, You Take My Breath Away, Early Morning Rain, Ain’t No Sunshine are on the to-do list. I’ll add True Colors.
