Jackson Browne – For Everyman

Learn how to play Jackson Browne – For Everyman note-for-note on guitar.
Difficulty level: Intermediate
Barre chords: Yes
Thumb over chords: No
Playing Style: Strummed with individual notes picked with the pick.
Tuning: Drop D, then down tune all strings by a half-step.
This lesson teaches Jackson’s guitar part as played in his live solo concerts. It was my very first lesson for Jerry’s Guitar Bar and it goes into almost painful detail, for which I apologise. But the information is all there to learn the song so if you have the patience you’ll get everything you need.
The complete file contains a lesson video, a performance play thru video, full tabs, chords and lyrics. You’ll receive a link to download the lesson which will download as a zip file of 411 Mb containing all the lesson content.

Hi Jerry, I ordered something fine yesterday. Great tab. However, I wanted the free versions of For Everyman and These Days. Not seeing anything in my email or junkmail.

How is it possible to make a simple beautiful song so fucked up with meaningless gobble. why not just explain what is going on. it could be done in less than one minute.
Jerry says
I look forward to your less than 1-minute lesson :)

What apps will ease my saving your lessons to my ipad? any help will be appreciated. thanks.
Jerry says
Hi Edward,
Azul Media Player will work. Over time I’ll convert these older videos to IPad friendly formats and all new videos are IPad-friendly. But in the meantime Azul should do it for you.

I agree with your response. I found the James Taylor play it as is set too hard. On the other hand, your intermediate strumming lessons have been great. I would love to play some Jackson Browne songs and will check out the difficulty level. I saw him live for the first time at the Fillmore East as an opening act for Laura Nyro. Just him, a stool and a guitar.

just a note jerry, love your lesson and appreciate what you do. I am not a beginner, but unfortunately, I found the sweet baby james lesson too difficult as well, maybe you could offer one just a bit easier? Anyway. thanks for all you do! john
Jerry says
Hi John. I hear you. JGB has developed into a site that specialises in teaching the songs as they’re played by the original artists. That happened really so that it differentiated itself from Mike Herberts’ site which specialises of course in simplified versions of songs.
But that doesn’t mean I can’t do a simplified set. I think it’s a good idea and I’ll give it some thought. Maybe like an intermediate set (strumming only?) of 20 famous acoustic songs.
I’ll ponder it :)
All the best
Jerry

Hey Jerry…Viewing your site for the first time. I did not know you had your own site as I thought you were partnered with Mike. I am glad to see your new site and will be ordering soon.
I recently bought an IPad and downloaded an app you recommended…I hope it will play your lessons okay, but if not, would you recommend any other apps?
Also, I travel a lot and recently ordered a Voyage- Air guitar to make playing on the road easier. In that regard, I am an avid user of slo-mo director software and wondering will you offer a version that will play on my IPad? Would be a great seller I believe.
Keep up the great lessons of the 70’s…I really love Doobie Brothers/ Chicago/Clapton etal.

Hi Neal
Things with Mike are carrying on as ever – we’re still great friends and working together. The reason for this new site is that the as-played and intermediate stuff that I like to do isn’t such a great fit for 6-String which likes to offer easier and simplified versions. Hence this new site. But I’m making easier things for Mike’s site too.
Slo-Mo I’m afraid is all Mike’s thing. I’m sure Nick at customer service can help you with the I-Pad question for Slo-Mo. As for the other app, 2 customers have told me it worked for them. If you have a problem, let me know and check into it.
Oh yes… Doobie Brothers have been added to the (long!) ‘to do’ list :)

Okay then…I will ask Nick about slo-mo and my IPad.
I have enough new songs now to learn and play after finding your site and am eager to start them all!
Take care,
Neal

I’m very glad to have helped Ron. I hope I can find more stuff that you’ll enjoy playing. All the best.

Most of the song I download from your website I already play to a level, but you have allowed me to ‘polish them’ to a much higher level (I have also bought some of your songs). I knew that I was ‘technically capable’ of playing the songs, but lacked the musical know how to break the songs down to the detail that you provide in your videos. Thank you.
