Hans Nesbitt says
I play the guitar left handed with the strings strung right
handed.
I have done this for 50 years since the age of 7 and can play
rather well. It is too late to change my way of playing…do you
have any suggestions on how to
make finger picking a little easier on the James Taylor tunes ?
Jerry says
Hi Hans. Sounds like you play like Elizabeth Cotton, right? Effectively upside down with finger playing the bass and thumb playing the high strings.
I don’t think I can help much except to say that most of what makes JT great is in the fretting hand. Hammer ons pull offs and slides. And you can still read the tab to play your way – it’ll just be upside down.
Hans Nesbitt says
Thank you Jerry ! I never heard of Elizabeth Cotton, you bringing my attention to her makes me feel like my left hand strung right style is not so bad after all. After 50 years of playing this way
makes other guitar players want to stand on their head….
