This lesson teaches Justin Hayward’s guitar part for Who Are You Now, following the original studio version closely. The song is played in a distinctive altered tuning: the guitar is tuned down a half step, with the first string lowered a further whole step. This gives the part its slightly dark, open, ringing quality, and the tuning is carefully explained at the start of the lesson.
The accompaniment is Travis picked throughout, with the alternating bass carrying the movement while the upper strings provide the vocal-like inner detail that gives the part its character.
