Paul S. says
Just out of curiosity, is there any sort of plan to bring some songs from One-Trick Pony into video form? (i.e. One-Trick Pony, Ace in the Hole, How the Heart Approaches What It Yearns…)
Jerry says
I think Long Long Day has been has been requested.
Swallow says
Paul Simon owns a guitar like I do a spoon. I would like to learn his song “Patterns”.
Ashvin says
Really good lesson Jerry. Many thanks.
Ashvin says
What tab Jerry!! Sincere thanks.
Robert says
Hi, Jerry
I just ordered your “I Am The Walrus” lesson with two others.
I love the chords in this classic.
Jerry, could you talk about tuning your guitar to match the original album version when you do the performance video?
Your acoustic performance of this orchestral tune is masterful.
BTW, have you heard Ivan’s (of Men Without Hats) electric performance on the album “Sideways”?
It is scaled back compared to your faithful reproduction of the Beatles’ original, but it still rocks in its own way.
It’s so rare to anyone attempt this one.
Jerry says
Hi Robert
I think the tuning for this one was concert pitch, which means The Beatles were at concert pitch.
I’m working on Springsteen’s acoustic version of Born in the USA right now, and he’s tuned between F# and G major. I’ve transcribed it in G major and raised the pitch of his version by half a semitone for the play thru.
Jumping Jack Flash is another example of a song in between two keys at concert pitch.
Robert says
Great transcription and instruction, as always, Jerry.
I have always loved this joyous song.
This is Paul Simon channeling Paul McCartney.
Simon’s solo album cover was a nod to “McCartney [I].”
Jerry says
Thanks Robert! It’s a fun one.
Charlie says
Thanks very much for this lesson Jerry!
Looking forward to learning this song and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas :)
Jerry says
Thanks Charlie. Enjoy it, and have a great Christmas too!
