Did you say it’s similar to open G, or open D tuning?
Jerry says
It’s open G with the 6th tuned lower to C

Forgot to mention… the little lead-in that Jackson Browne does just prior to each C/G chord only (on the Jackson Browne & David Lindley performance anyway)… he does (when he does it) all on the 5th string sliding quickly from 2nd fret to 4th fret and back again to 2nd fret – then hitting an open 6th string strumming through the C/G chord.
Thought it may help someone that hadn’t figured that out if they were attempting the Browne & Lindley version.

First and foremost… Thank you Jerry for a great lesson for this tune!! I found a way to cheat a bit on the D7 as I have difficulty obtaining a clear F# on the 6th with my thumb. (May help someone else) It took practice to quickly reach it from the C/B. I finger the D7 as follows: 6th = 2nd finger; 5th = ring finger; 4th = open; 3rd = 4th finger (aka: pinky); 2nd = index finger; & of course 1st = open.
It took some repetitive practice to be come familiar with that finger positioning but I can now go to the D7 in that way as quickly as you go to the basic E, D, A.
Again.. thanks a bunch for all the great work you put into these lessons and making them available to us. I’ve been playing since I was about 7 or 8 and I’m obviously still learning.
I’m definitely a fan!! Please do keep up the great work!!
