Hi Jerry just wanted to say thanks for making this so easy to follow Im a beginner and I’ve always loved this song, sang it for my son when he was little Karaoke style its always been a dream of mine to play acoustic Guitar so at 56 years young I start ! never played an instrument of any kind but Im determined to learn this Song till my fingers fall off !!! I will concede this is ambitious but your method of teaching makes it seem doable ! Thank you again for your Help. Sincerely, John
Jerry says
Good luck with it John. It’s not too difficult but start with something a bit easier and work up to it.
Phil says
Good one Jerry,
Have to purchase this one.
Didn’t someone else cover this later on?
Cheers
Phil
Jerry says
Hi Phil,
A band called Ugly Kid Joe had a hit with a rock version of it. I’m not sure if anyone else covered it.
Rick says
A number of people have actually covered it. Judy Collins, Ricky Skaggs, and Johnny Cash have all covered it. It’s been well covered. One of Harry’s best.
Jerry says
Wow thanks Chris. I hope the lesson lives up to your expectations! Let me know how you get on.
Chris says
OH Jerry you are such a legend thank you very much for doing this lesson, if i have any chance of learning this song it would be from only you. There are so many lessons of this song on the wide net but the lessons are so confusing and rushed in the ways they are taught by others. When i saw this lesson by you i purchased it straight away because i absoutley know that i will 100% learn this song because it is taught by you like all the other lessons i have learned from you you are absoutley a champion.
thanks alot
chris

hi jerry
i have learned half of it already and yes o yes it lives up to my expectations, with your teaching it is so much clearer of how this song is played, i will admit it is hard because its cappoed at the 8th fret which means alot of squeezing the fingers to make A cord, but hey it improves your guitar skill so much learning this and with practise like any songs it is very achieveable, the lesson you have made is so good and explained throughly which makes it fun and inspiring also with techniques to suit everyone who wants to learn this song.
thank you so much jerry, its really cool learning all these great songs from you
